Recent Birding Reports |
Hi Gord,
It is a very strange fall birding wise.
There has been very little birding activity. By now the usual feeding stations on my property should be a flurry of activity but all is quiet. A couple of weeks ago I had a flock of some 14 white crowns...now nothing. There aren't even any junco's and the Black capped chickadees are sporadic to say the least. The woods around the property are mainly silent except for Evening Grosbeaks, Blue Jays and Gray Jays, and they only arrived a couple of weeks ago.
A Downy and a Hairy are regular visitors. The Downy flew into the window a few days ago and after an hours rest he finally flew away, however I haven't seen him since.
A flock of female purple finches spent all of 15 minutes in the trees and then they were gone.
Logging is very heavy in our area and has been for a number of years now..I hope this is not having an impact on the birds. Up to a hundred log trucks a day have been counted going through our Town.
Sincerely..Gert Trudel
