  • Holiday Beach Ducks - Mon, 5 Mar 2001

    Temperatures at 45* F. on Friday, Sat. and Sun. were
    warmer than predicted. Duck numbers were on the
    increase in the marshes. At Holiday Beach in Essex
    County on Sunday some species were:
    American Wigeon 78
    Green-winged Teal 11
    N. Pintail 56
    Gadwall 4
    Am. Coot 6
    Ring-necked Duck 10
    Tundra Swan 19
    Black Duck, Mallard
    
    With winter making a return, I don't know where
    they will go.

  • February Frogs and Ducks - Feb. 20 - Wed, 21 Feb 2001

    Gord,
    At Holiday Beach, on February 20, many ducks, geese,
    and swans were in the shallow melted ponds.
    At least 2 CHORUS FROGS were calling near Carp
    Crossing. 
    Species of waterfowl were Tundra Swan, Am. Wigeon,
    Gadwall, N. Pintail, Black Duck, Mallard, Canada
    Goose, and Mute Swan.
    Red-winged Blackbirds sang from pond edges.
